Finally, Something for Him

Yesterday we got (through the strings of my jeweler mom) Dude's wedding band!

It's pretty simple, a comfort fit 7mm white gold band in his size. I was surprised at how heavy it was, but that was completely my mom's doing. She didn't want every little bump to dent the ring.

I have to say, I felt all kinds of funny when he put it on. It was the first time, I think, that it all became real to me.

More Ring Madness

The wedding band!!! It's so fantastic.

I've done quite a bit of complaining in the last month and change since the planning started, but despite the complaining I am so excited to be Mrs. Dude. I even reserved MyName.DudesLastName (at) gmail.

Yes, I am changing my name, even though it will be a complete pain in the arse and it will sound really really weird for a few months.

Another ring pic under the cut.

Since I'm Getting Battered For This Information...

I never got a chance to elaborate on the Ring. I love it. I crazily love it.

I originally didn't want a ring because of all the violence and greed associated with diamonds, but since it's inherited I figure I'm okay with that.

I've been trying to get a picture of it, but photographing jewelry is possibly the most difficult thing to do with a digital camera.

It is an antique ring that has been in Dude's family since the 1800's. Dude inherited it from his grandmother, and previously the ring was owned by the Dude's grandfather's great aunt. The center diamond is European cut, which apparently was the predecessor to the brilliant cut, and is very very sparkly. On each side, there are two smaller European cut diamonds. The band is white gold. On death or divorce, it must be returned to Dude's family.

I also have a matching wedding band, which has 5 European cut diamonds about the size of the smaller diamonds on the engagement ring.

I love love LOVE it! It's totally my style, not too flashy, very sentimental, and best of all... FREE!
