Dude and I are less than three weeks away from our honeymoon (yaaaay!) and a not-very-distant relative has graciously offered to host us in Trieste. She and her husband have also offered to take us driving around Austria and Slovenia, then driving us to Croatia to pick up our rental car, and also getting us in contact with their friends and relatives for the remainder of the Croatia road trip.
Neat-o huh?
WHAT DO I BRING THEM AS HOSTESS GIFTS?! Someting New York-y, I'm thinking. Though I don't think they'll let me take cheesecake on the flight - will they?
Also, please keep in mind that we are carrying on only, no checking baggage for us.

Black & white cookies? Smoked salmon? Bagels??? Snow globe of the Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty?
How old are these relatives?
Actually if you really wanted to do the cheesecake, you shouldn;t have a problem. Liquids are the only thing you can not get through security. I am sure if you call Juniors they can freeze one for you ahead of time, this way it doesn't spoil in flight.
@elizabeth - ooh, black and white cookies...
@citizen - mid 50's
@rachel - so, i failed to mention that we are not going straight to trieste, we won't be there until the 4th or 5th day of the trip. so after some dismay i don't think i can bring perishable foodstuffs.
I would suggest a nice (a) set of 4 napkin rings, or (b) firkin.
Seriously, both of those are nice, may-actually-be-used items.
