A Few Thoughts Before I Return to the Looming Wedding Planning

The thoughts that have been swirling in my head over the last few days.

... The coverage over the weekend was an absolute circus. Yes, I totally understand this is a great and historic event, but all that media and all the coverage, after a while, starts to cheapen the experience. More is not always better, sometimes it's just more. What can I say, I am an equal opportunity critic.

... Joe Biden looks like the guy who plays Christian Sheppard on Lost.

... Was it just me, or did Rev. Warren seem completely weirded out saying Obama's daughters' names?

... Aretha's hat. Wow. Just wow.

... She still sounds fantastic.

... But that hat. It gets you from every angle.

... "know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy" !!!!!

... "we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals" !!!!!!

... "the price and promise of citizenship" !!!

... "To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist." !!!!!!

... If I were not in the office and surrounded by my coworkers, I'd be bawling. AMAZING.

and, finally...

... The absolute best comment I've heard about the inaguration was my friend's Facebook status, which read, "[Friend] thinks, purely aesthetically, we are losing a man who looks like he would molest your pre-teen niece and gaining a man that no one would kick out of bed."

Wedding posts start again, tomorrow, maybe later today.
